Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • I will submit an Article Text file on the "Upload Submission" page that follows that does not contain identifying information for any of the authors.
  • I will submit a separate Title and Contacts Page on the "Upload Submission" page that follows that contains the title of the work and the names, titles, affiliation, and contact information for all authors.
  • In addition to the above-noted Title and Contacts page, I will list all of the authors for the manuscript on the "Enter Metadata" page that follows. I understand that once the submission is complete, I cannot add additional authors.

Scope of the Journal

The Journal of Finance Issues (JFI) accepts open submission of new scholarly empirical or theoretical papers in all areas of Finance including but not limited to Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Institutions, Global Finance, Real Estate, Risk Management and Insurance, Derivatives, Personal Finance, and Financial Education.

The Journal is sponsored and published by the Academy of Finance. The Academy of Finance is one of twelve affiliated international scholarly organizations that make up the MBAA International.  The MBAA holds an annual conference in Chicago, Illinois.

Review

The JFI uses double-blind review, which means that the authors' identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.

Publication Fee and Final Submission

A publication fee of $100 per paper must be paid before publication of the manuscript.

Authors of accepted articles will be provided with a template and must follow that template when submitting their final, accepted article for publication.

The JFI Editorial Board, the Academy of Finance, Saint Louis University, and the publisher assume no responsibility for the views expressed by authors in the Journal of Finance Issues.

Format

Article files should be provided in Microsoft Word (docx), OpenOffice Open Document Format (ODF), or Rich Text Format (RTF).

The article text should be submitted with the following information.

  • Title of the paper: Use bold face font and capitalized initial letters.
  • Abstract: Maximum 250 words under the bold-faced title of Abstract.
  • Main text
  • References
  • Tables and figures

The article text should contain NO identification of author(s).

Main Text

The main text of the paper should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, and fully justified. First line of all new paragraphs must be indented. All sections should be numbered with capitalized bold-faced Roman numeral. All tables and graphs should be placed at the back of the paper.

References  

References to other works should be in either APA or  Chicago style and should be consistent throughout the paper .
